These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Epocha mobile game and the homosapien.studio website (together, the “Service”), operated by Homosapien Studio (“we”, “us”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Your privacy. How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. Agreeing to these Terms is not the same as consenting to optional uses of your data such as personalised advertising or push notifications — we ask for those separately in the app, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
1. The Service
Epocha is a single-player history quiz game. It requires an internet connection: game content and your saved progress are delivered online.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
You are responsible for your account and for activity that happens under it. Keep your sign-in credentials secure and notify us of any unauthorized use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to cheat, tamper with gameplay, automate play, reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service, or attempt to manipulate the leaderboard, streaks, achievements or coins.
You agree not to choose a username or upload an avatar that is offensive, infringing, impersonating or otherwise inappropriate. We may reset usernames or remove avatars that break this rule.
4. Coins and virtual items
Coins and other in-game items have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for real money, and are non-transferable. They are licensed to you for use within the game and may be adjusted, expired or removed as part of normal operation. Any optional purchases are governed by the rules of the app store you bought through.
5. Leaderboard and fair play
Streaks, scores and rankings are validated on our servers. We may correct or remove leaderboard entries, reset progress, or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe have cheated or abused the Service.
6. Intellectual property
The Epocha name, logo, artwork, questions, design and software are owned by Homosapien Studio and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from them without our permission.
7. Educational content
Epocha is made for learning and entertainment. We work hard to keep historical content accurate and well-sourced, but we cannot guarantee it is free of error and it should not be relied on as authoritative for academic, legal or professional purposes.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Google Firebase and the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy of content or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Homosapien Studio will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress or coins, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or for the operational or legal reasons described above.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the competent courts of Georgia, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
